Terms and Conditions

1. Booking & Your Investment

To secure your session date, a non-refundable booking deposit of £50 is required.

  • The Deadline: This deposit must be paid in full at least 7 days before our scheduled session. If payment is not received by this time, the slot will be released.

  • Final Balance: The remaining balance is due before the gallery link is sent. No unwatermarked, high-resolution images will be released until the final balance has been settled.

2. Cancellations & No-Shows

Life happens — I totally understand. Here’s how cancellations work:

  • Rescheduling: You’re welcome to reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice at no extra cost. Your deposit will simply roll over to the new date.

  • Cancellation with notice: If you cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice, your deposit is retained but no further charge applies.

  • No-show: If you do not attend on the day without any prior notice, the full session fee is due in full. This is a firm policy — my time is reserved exclusively for you and your dog.

  • Photographer cancellation: If I need to cancel due to illness or emergency, I will offer a full refund or rescheduled date at no extra cost to you.

3. Light, Weather & The British Outdoors

We want your dog to look their absolute best, which means working with the light and the elements.

  • The Best Light: To avoid harsh shadows and squinty eyes, I typically shoot during “Golden Hour” (early morning or late afternoon). If the forecast predicts very bright, direct sun, I may ask to adjust our start time.

  • Overcast Days: Soft, cloudy light is actually perfect for dog photography! We will proceed on overcast days as normal.

  • Rescheduling for weather: If the weather is unsuitable (heavy rain, gales, or heat exceeding 24°C), we will reschedule at no extra cost to you. Your deposit will simply roll over to our new date.

4. Artistic Choice & Style

  • Portfolio Style: By booking, you acknowledge that you have chosen me based on my existing portfolio. While I will strive to capture your dog’s best angles, the final images are dependent on the dog’s cooperation, the location, and the light conditions on the day.

  • Creative Discretion: I reserve the right to select and edit only the best images from the session. The final selection and “look” of the edits are at my artistic discretion.

5. Dog Welfare & Reactivity

Every dog is welcome, regardless of their temperament.

  • Reactive Dogs: I am happy to accommodate reactive or nervous dogs. Please disclose any triggers in advance so we can choose a quiet, safe location.

  • Welfare Clause: I reserve the right to pause or terminate the session if the dog shows signs of significant distress, or if the dog poses a risk to itself, the public, or me. My priority is always the dog’s emotional well-being.

6. Leads, Collars & Editing

  • Lead Removal: For safety, I often recommend keeping your dog on a lead. I can digitally remove thin, standard leads in post-processing at no extra cost.

  • Harnesses & Collars: Please note that harnesses and collars cannot be removed. These require extensive reconstruction of the fur and are not part of this agreement. Please ensure your dog is wearing the gear you wish to see in the final photos.

7. Image Delivery

Your edited images will be delivered within 2 weeks of your session via a private online gallery. You’ll receive an email with a link to view, download, and share your favourites. The gallery will remain active for 30 days, so please download your images within that time.

The number of images delivered will depend on the session and your package — I always aim to over-deliver, but quality always comes before quantity.

8. Liability & Responsibility

  • Control of the Dog: In accordance with the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, the Owner/Client is legally responsible for the dog’s actions at all times.

  • Waiver of Liability: The Photographer shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage caused by the dog to the Client, the Photographer, or any third party or property.

  • Dog Safety: While I take every precaution, I am not liable for any injuries the dog may sustain during the session (e.g., trips, thorns, or interactions with wildlife). You agree to indemnify the Photographer against all claims arising from the dog’s behaviour.

9. Usage & Copyright

  • Copyright: I retain the copyright to all images. You are granted a licence for Personal Use only, meaning you can print them and share them on social media, but you may not sell or use them for commercial purposes.

  • Images must not be altered, edited, or filtered in any way without permission, as this misrepresents my work.

  • Marketing: I may use the images for my website, portfolio, and social media to show off my work. If you prefer to keep your dog’s session private, please let me know before the shoot!
