Info
How does a session work?
Sessions usually begin with a short introduction and a walk in a familiar outdoor location. My first priority is the wellbeing and safety of your dog, along with getting to know your dog and understanding what kind of photographs will best suit their personality.
There’s no strict posing or pressure for your dog to perform. I gently guide where needed, allowing photographic moments to unfold naturally, and always work around your dog’s energy and comfort.
My dog won’t sit still — is that a problem?
Not at all. Most dogs don’t, and that’s completely fine.
I photograph dogs as they are — whether they’re calm, curious, playful, or always on the move. The aim isn’t perfection, but capturing who they really are. Some images in my portfolio may look perfectly posed or still, but these are often brief, natural moments that happen during the walk and are captured as they unfold.
Do dogs need to be off-lead?
No. Dogs can stay on lead the entire time if needed.
Safety and comfort always come first, and leads can be edited out naturally where appropriate.
Where do sessions take place?
My Standard sessions take place outdoors in carefully chosen locations around Frodsham Hill, Helsby Hill, and Delamere Forest, or Chester city centre if you opt for an Urban session. These are places I know well, allowing me to work confidently with the light, conditions, and seasons to create calm, consistent results.
If there’s a specific location you’d like to use, feel free to get in touch — I’m always happy to discuss options where possible.
Legacy and end-of-life sessions are offered within 15 miles of Frodsham, and can take place at your home or another suitable location if your dog is unable to travel.
What if the weather isn’t great?
We’ll keep in touch in the days leading up to the session. If the weather really isn’t suitable, we’ll simply rearrange. Soft, overcast days often work beautifully for photography, so light rain or cloud isn’t usually an issue. If conditions are particularly bright, we can usually find shaded areas or photograph closer to sunrise or sunset to keep the light calm and flattering.
How are the photos edited?
I keep editing natural and understated, avoiding heavy retouching or trends. The aim is timeless photographs that feel honest and won’t date with time.
Will you try to sell us lots of extras?
No. I keep things simple and transparent, with no sales appointments or pressure.
Standard sessions include full-resolution digital images alongside a small selection of gallery-quality fine art prints, so you have something tangible as well as images to enjoy on screen.
Legacy and end-of-life sessions include both digital images and physical prints,.
If you’d like additional prints or wall art, you’re welcome to order them and I can guide you through the process — but there’s absolutely no obligation. All printing is handled through trusted, high-quality UK professional labs.
How do we book?
